Paving · Santa Ana

A street overlay in four frames

  1. Crew member spraying the street surface while a tractor-mounted rig unrolls black paving fabric along a residential curb

    01

    Prepare the surface

The existing street is sprayed ahead of the fabric so it bonds to the old pavement.

  2. Wide roll of paving fabric being unwound from the back of a work truck across a residential street

    02

    Unroll the paving fabric

Paving fabric is unwound across the full width of the street from a truck-mounted roll.

  3. Orange tractor towing a fabric laydown rig over a freshly covered street as a crew lead walks alongside

    03

    Seat the fabric

A tractor-drawn rig smooths the fabric flat so it lies tight against the surface.

  4. Asphalt paver laying a new mat around a residential corner while a double-drum roller compacts behind it

    04

    Pave and compact

A paver places the new asphalt over the fabric, and a roller compacts it right behind.

Sealcoat · Irvine Cove

Before, during, after

A narrow hillside drive above the coast, documented through the sealcoat process.

Full sealcoat album
  1. Before: overlook of the narrow access drive winding down a coastal hillside, prior to sealing

    Before

  2. During: the hillside drive coated in fresh black sealer, with the crew working at the far end

    During

  3. After: the hillside drive finished in uniform black with freshly painted red curbs

    After

One parking area split down the middle: gray, weathered asphalt on the left and fresh black sealcoat on the right

Weathered and sealed, side by side

One photo, taken mid-job, shows exactly what sealcoat changes: oxidized gray pavement on one side, a fresh protective coat on the other.
